  • Millionaires force out locals

The Sunday Times reports on the foreign millionaires edging out locals in English villages and turning alehouse into gastropubs.

It reports on the village of Ramsbury, in Wiltshire, where the Bell pub was recently bought by the Ramsbury Estate. Another example is given in Chipping Norton, in the Cotswolds, which used to be home to a few hardware shops and a Co-op. Now it boasts the Daylesford organic farmshop and “posh cafes”.
